Dr. D. Ramamurthy is presently the President of All India Ophthalmological Society (AIOS). Earlier he was the Chairman – scientific committee of the same society for a period of 6 years from 2008 to 2014. One of the pioneers in India in various stages of evolution of cataract and refractive surgery, he has participated in various national and international conferences. He has conducted several courses and live surgeries in prestigious international conferences such as ASCRS, ESCRS, APAO and APACRS, and contributed to several chapters in books on cataract and refractive surgery. He has several awards and orations to his credit.
