Dr. Arkasubhra Ghosh obtained his PhD in Molecular Medicine from the University of Missouri-Columbia, School of Medicine, USA where he focused on developing AAV vectors for gene therapy. He is Director of the Research arm of Narayana Nethralaya, GROW research laboratory, Bangalore. His research focuses on biomarker discovery as well as molecular mechanisms of disease. The research also investigates novel therapeutic modalities leading to extensive collaborations within academia and industry. He established the country’s first recombinant AAV based Gene Therapy cGMP vector production platform which has regulatory approval. In particular, the laboratory has developed and tested gene therapy vectors for the treatment of muscular dystrophies, retinal dystrophies and corneal conditions. He has published >145 international, peer reviewed scientific articles and awarded various grants including India Alliance Wellcome Trust-DBT, DST-SERB, ISJRP, VGST, DST-MOTA, etc.
