Dr. Espiritu practices at the Associated Eye Specialists (Managing Partner), the American Eye Center (Chief Medical Officer) and serves as chairman of the ophthalmology department of the Manila Doctors Hospital. He earned both his Bachelor of Science (Zoology major) and Doctor of Medicine degrees at the University of the Philippines and obtained his ophthalmology training from the University of the Philippines – Philippine General Hospital. He completed a fellowship in cornea, uveitis and infectious diseases at the Francis I. Proctor Foundation, University of California in San Francisco. He is recognized as one of the top cataract surgeons and key opinion leaders not only locally but internationally as well. Testament to this are the total of fourteen international live cataract surgery programs that he had been invited to participate in in different meetings all over the world. He is also a much sought after speaker and moderator on his key interests which are infectious diseases, corneal surgery and cataract surgery. Dr. Espiritu is an Asia-Pacific Association of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons Certified Educator and has recently been cited as an Outstanding Alumnus of the University of the Philippines Department of Ophthalmology due to his past and continuing contributions to his specialty. In 2012, he was inducted into the prestigious International Intraocular Implant Club.
