Dr. Tetsuro Oshika is the President of the Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO) and serves as the Chairman and Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Tsukuba, Japan. He previously served an unprecedented three terms as President of the Japanese Ophthalmological Society (JOS) from 2017 to 2025.

Internationally recognized as a leading expert in cataract and anterior segment surgery, Prof. Oshika is a distinguished clinician-scientist with research interests spanning ocular optics, ocular imaging, and AI application in ophthalmology. His extensive academic contributions include 650 peer-reviewed publications, authorship in over 100 textbooks, and more than 400 invited lectures. His significant research impact is reflected in an H-index of 85.

Prof. Oshika also served as the President of the World Ophthalmology Congress (WOC) held in Tokyo in April 2014. The event was a resounding success, attracting a record-breaking 20,000 participants from over 160 countries and establishing itself as a milestone in global ophthalmology.
