Dr. Pannet Pangputhipong is one of the first few Thai ophthalmologists to perform phacoemulsification in Thailand. His learning and thinking ability help him develop surgical techniques to fight with hard and complicated cataracts which are commonly found in Thailand.
Dr. Pannet also loves teaching. He has ability to simplify his teaching and explain things from the grass root. He had participated in many live surgeries, teaching courses and lectures in many countries including Italy where he got “Best Surgeon Award” during a live surgery at Dr. Lucio Buratto’s 1998 Video Cataratta symposium. He received the Asia-Pacific Association of Cataract and Refractive Surgeon Certified Educator (ACE) Award in 2004 and Top of The Pop Award at APACRS 2010.
Besides academics services, Dr. Pannet also helps coordinate a project to clear cataract back log in Thailand which more than 100,000 blinding cataract has been operated free of charge since May 2003. He received APAO’s Prevention of Blindness Award in 2003 and Thailand’s Outstanding Citizen Award in 2007 from Thai government.
Dr. Pannet Pangputhipong is now working as the Director of Mettapracharak Hospital and Eye Institute, Ministry of Public Health, Thailand.
